In addition to candy and chewing gum, Lotte also operates the Lotteria chain of fast food restaurants, Lotte Hotel, the Lotte Cinema chain of cineplexes, and Lotte World in Seoul, one of the world''s largest indoor theme parks. Lotte also owns the Lotte Giants baseball team in Busan, South Korea and Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan. They also own franchise licenses for Krispy Kreme doughnut shops, 7-Eleven convenience stores, and the T.G.I. Friday''s restaurant chain in South Korea.

The source of the company''s name is neither Japanese nor Korean, but German. Shin was impressed with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe''s "The Sorrows of Young Werther" (1774) and named his newly-founded company Lotte after the character Charlotte (also the name of a new brand of deluxe movie theatres run by Lotte) in the novel. Lotte''s current marketing slogan in Japan is óSồÊóđổ<ọófưóffóf? (o-kuchi no koibito Lotte), which is translated as "your palate''s sweetheart, Lotte".

Lotte lập công ty cổ phần tại Trung Quốc

(20/03) Ngày 18 tháng 3, tập đoàn Lotte Group đã lập công ty cổ phần tại Trung Quốc với mục tiêu trở thành tập đoàn đứng đầu ngành thực phẩm toàn cầu về cường độ mở rộng tại thị trường thực thẩm và đồ uống Trung Quốc.
Lotte cho biết công ty cổ phần này có tên gọi Lotte (China) Investment Company, sẽ hợp nhất hoạt động của 5 chi nhánh thực phẩm và đồ uống của Lotte tại Trung Quốc.

Ông Shin Dong-bin, phó chủ tịch của tập đoàn Hàn Quốc này cho biết Trung Quốc là thị trường quan trọng nhất trong số những thị trường tại khu vực Đông Nam Á, Ấn Độ và Trung Quốc. Thực phẩm, thế mạnh của Lotte, sẽ là lĩnh vực đầu tiên mà Lotte muốn thâu tóm thị trường Trung Quốc.

Với mục tiêu đầy tham vọng đạt 1 ngàn tỷ won (1,1 tỷ USD) doanh số bán ra tại thị trường thực phẩm Trung Quốc vào năm 2016, ông Shin tiết lộ rằng Lotte Group sẽ là thương hiệu thực phẩm hàng đầu trong thập kỷ tới.

Ông cho biết, mặc dù Hàn Quốc đã có một số thương hiệu nổi tiếng toàn cầu như Samsung, LG và Huyndai nhưng Hàn Quốc vẫn chưa có thương hiệu thực phẩm toàn cầu. Do đó tập đoàn này sẽ nỗ lực để quảng bá nhãn hiệu Lotte trên thị trường toàn cầu trong những năm tới.

Lotte (China) Investment Co. sẽ có vốn đầu tư 30 triệu USD, trong đó 34% từ Lotte của Nhật Bản, 33% từ Lotte Confectionary Co., của Hàn Quốc và 33% từ Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co..

Dự kiến công ty cổ phần tại Trung Quốc này sẽ do ông Shin làm giám đốc điều hành.

Trước đây 5 chi nhánh thực phẩm và đồ uống của Lotte tại Trung Quốc gồm Lotte China Foods Co., Lotte Qingdao Foods Co., Lotte Shanghai Foods Co., Lotte Huabang (Bắc Kinh) Beverage Co. và Lotte Aodeli Beverage Co hoạt động tách biệt và bán các sản phẩm riêng. Công ty cổ phần thành lập sẽ phối hợp các hoạt động quản lý, bán hàng, nghiên cứu và đầu tư của 5 chi nhánh này.

Ông Shin cũng thông báo kế hoạch mở rộng kinh doanh tại Đông Nam Á, Ấn Độ và Nga.

Ông cho biết tổng thị trường bánh quy hiện đạt khoảng 41 tỷ USD tại các thị trường Việt Nam, Nga, Ấn Độ, Trung Quốc, Nhật Bản và Hàn Quốc. Tại Ấn Độ, công ty sẽ xây dựng các nhà máy tại Chennai và New Delhi trong thời gian tới. Tại Nga, công ty sẽ lập một công ty bán hàng vào tháng 4, mặc dù trước đây chỉ xuất khẩu sản phẩm sang thị trường này.

Lotte Cinema mở tổ hợp giải trí Hàn Quốc đầu tiên ở Việt Nam

Lotte Cinema sẽ là tổ hợp giải trí và rạp chiếu đầu tiên của Hàn Quốc mở cửa tại Việt Nam. Thông tin này đã được hãng KBS đưa trên trang thông tin chính thức của mình.

Thương hiệu này vượt DMC (Diamond Multiplex Cinema), thương hiệu Hàn Quốc kinh doanh trong lĩnh vực chiếu phim ở Việt Nam khá nổi tiếng để cung cấp chuỗi đa dịch vụ giải trí tại Việt Nam.
Cuối tuần qua, Lotte Cinema cũng đã thông báo về việc mở những rạp chiếu nhỏ ở TP Hồ Chí Minh và Đà Nẵng.
Theo KBS, mặc dù CGV và Megabox - hai đại gia cung cấp chuỗi các dịch vụ giải trí ở Hàn Quốc đã mở cửa ở Thượng Hải và Bắc Kinh, nhưng với Việt Nam, Lotte Cinema lại là người đi tiên phong.
Lotte Cinema cũng đang lên kế hoạch kinh doanh một rạp chiếu phim trong khuôn viên công trình Lotte Mart đang được xây dựng và dự kiến khai trương cuối năm nay ở TPHCM cũng như ở Hà Nội và những thành phố lớn khác.

Lotte Group, the fifth largest company in South Korea, is seeking approval to develop two large property projects in Ho Chi Minh City said to be even larger than Seoul?Ts Lotte World recreation complex.

Scores of investors are lining up to develop the Saigon River banks
The group last week submitted master plans, which have already been received by the Ho Chi Minh City Peoplê?Ts Committee, to the Ministry of Planning an Investment.
The first project worth around $2 billion, will see a 50-storey retail and office complex be situated on a prime location near the Saigon River.
Chang-Bae Lee, president of Lotte Engineering & Construction Company - a subsidiary company of Lotte Group, said the project had a favourable position near District 1 and there would be a metro station under the complex.
District 2 will accommodate the second project which will see a new urban area, a 100-storey building, a five-star hotel, an indoor theme park, an outdoor amusement park, office and residential buildings, shopping malls and an international school.
?oThis complex will be like Lotte World in Seoul. Lotte World was built nearly 20 years ago so the plan to develop the complex in Ho Chi Minh City will be even larger and more modern than Lotte World,? Lee said.
Lotte World consists of a large indoor theme and outdoor amusement parks, shopping malls, sports facilities and movie theatres. Opened from 1989, it receives about five million visitors each year.
Although Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam?Ts largest city and its economic centre, it still lacks commercial centres and entertainment sites. The A.T. Kearney?Ts 2007 Global Retail Development Index ranked Vietnam as the world?Ts fourth most attractive retail market, behind India and Russia.
The city?Ts residential and office markets are also becoming hot.
Lottê?Ts projects, if approved, would contribute to the supply of the market and could be a good destination for locals, foreigners living in the city to shopping, relaxing and a perfect spot for sightseeing, said Lee. Lotte Group was established in 1965 and operates in the service, finance, construction, distribution and industry sectors.
The group has also developed the Lotte Mart and Lotteria in Vietnam and acquired apart of Vietnamese Kinh Do confectionery firm.
